HOW WE WORK

  • Our group is working to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases and pollution produced by traffic in and around Eastbourne.

  • We are keen to encourage active travel (walking and cycling) and the use of public transport as an alternative to the use of private cars (modal shift).

Our Action

  • Encouraging East Sussex County Council, in collaboration with Eastbourne Borough Council and bus operators to set up a Quality Bus Partnership (QBP).
  • Developing skills in political lobbying in order to make our views known to those who have the political power to change modes of transport in the town.
  • Preparing articles for publication to raise public awareness of transport issues and the need to de-carbonise transport.
  • Supporting ECO friendly local events such as Walking Festival and Car Free Day.
  • Responding to government consultations relating to transport and planning, with the aim of achieving environmental and health benefits in a zero-carbon future.
  • Promoting alternatives to the private car, encourage the use of public transport, walking and cycling.
  • Consider electric solutions as an alternative to fossil fuel vehicles including electric vehicles, e-bikes, e-scooters and the required e-charging infrastructure.

    Consultations with East Sussex County Council on the subject of extending cycling routes around Eastbourne.

  • Transport Symposium

    We are looking into a possibility to run a transport symposium in Eastbourne. Please get in touch for more information.
